Japanese consumer electronics company founded in 1929. Akai reel to
reel tape recorders were the best in the
domestic market in their day and were very popular as professional
reel to reel tape recorders, none
more so than their Open
Reel Recorders. The
reel-to-reel
recorder system
was used in the very earliest sound
recorders in
the 1930s and Akai are considered as one of the
leading manufacturers of this format.
